Because the safety and health of everyone who visits or attends meetings is important to us, an AED (automated external defibrillator) was installed at the Post 13 Clubhouse on Thursday December 27, 2019. This device will make it possible to quickly respond to a cardiac medical emergency

Post 30 - Kim Craddock Veteran of the Year Award
AMVETS Post 30 and District 4 Adjutant Kim Craddock receives the prestigious Fox Valley Veteran of the Year Award for 2020 on December 19th. Kim was chosen by her peers in the Fox Cities for her contributions to Veterans and Veterans Programs in and around the Fox Cities. Congratulations!

Post 6440 Gift Baskets
The Bloomer AMVETS distributed 24 Christmas gift baskets to veterans in the three nursing homes in Bloomer and the one in Cornell.
The baskets held wool socks, toothbrush and toothpaste, oranges and apples, candy canes, and many sweets and bars.

Post 30 Veteran Day Events
AMVETS Post 30 was busy from Nov 4 to Nov 11th at various Veterans Day Events.
On the 4th Kim Craddock was at James Madison Middle School for 4 classes as part of Kimberly Clark’s Salute Program educating students on her service and about Veterans Day History. She also provided the teachers with AMVETS Americanism packets. Kim then visited Bethlehem School in Hortonville on the 7th.
Post 30 members attended the BJ Prior Event at MVM and purchased BJ’s book “Behind my Wings”.
Rick Vesperman and Kim Craddock held a Veterans Hour on Nov 10 at LivingTree Assisted Living Home( 3 Vets) and another Nov 11 at Heritage Woods(16 Vets).
On Nov 11th they joined Post members Senator Roger Roth and Frank Billings for the Outagamie County Veterans Day Ceremony.

Post 50 - Care Boxes
At the December monthly meeting AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 50 found out that Patti and Hank Thomas had a grandson, Dean Freeman, who was stationed in Afghanistan. The Ladies Auxiliary voted to make up Care Boxes that they would send for Valentine’s Day to Dean and his 17 fellow troops who were stated with him. On January 19, 2018, the AMVETS Auxiliary packed up the three large boxes and mailed them. The Auxiliary is very grateful to all those who donated goodies that were placed in the boxes.
The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary donated 10 new Winter jackets to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Along with the jackets Honorary Member Helen Krucky made matching hats and mittens to go with the jackets. The Auxiliary hopes the jackets will find good homes.
AMVETS Auxiliary Post 50, Phillips made a $100 donation to the Price County Sheriff’s Department towards organizing their Annual Safety Education Program geared toward all children and adults. The department has received very positive and encouraging feed back from the children, adults and teachers. In cooperation with the Department, child safety and drug education materials will be provided for children, pre-school and older, as well as Internet Safety, ID Theft and material for our senior citizens. These materials have been designed exclusively by National Child Safety Council, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization.

Tom and Kathy Muench owners of Boetlers Jewelers donated diamond earrings to Yvonne and Davis Reno for AMVETS Post 99 Memorial Picnic in the Park. The annual fundraiser at 4310 Conroe St. in Rapids supports their many veteran, military and community projects and programs.

AMVETS Post 50 - Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs
May 31, 2018 AMVETS Post 50 Phillips, WI conducted their annual “Hooked on fishing not on Drugs” youth fishing program. The Post purchased fishing poles and tackle for all the student in the fourth grade to keep and take home. It was a great day for fishing. Many parents and grand parents attended. This is the eleventh year of this program. For more information on the AMVETS contact the Price county VSO.
Post 30 - Appleton Flag Day Parade
Post 30 attended the June 9th Appleton Flag Day Parade with tributes to the theme of Army and Vietnam, memorializing those who died for our Freedoms and those did come home. Their name sake Myron Palmbach of Greenville is buried at Ft. William McKinley Cemetery (Manila-Phillipines). There was also a 200th Anniversary of the Flag Act and unveiling of the New “Flag Act” Stamp at Houdini Plaza earlier that day. The "Fallen Angel" Military Tribute truck was at the parade as well.

Veterans Welcome Home Picnic July 19, 2018 was held at Happy Daze Bar & grill Kennan, Wi. It was sponsored by The Kennan Legion Post. Around 90 veterans and family's attended. Donations to the Honor Flight were made. One from the AMVETS Post 50 and Auxiliary of $9500.00. One from the Combined effort With AMVETS, Legion and VFW $4500.00. One from Happy Daze for $1000.00. A fine time was had by all.

AMVETS Post 99 & Auxiliary - Ice Cream Socials
AMVETS Post 99 and Auxiliary visited several nursing homes throughout Manitowoc County this summer. The socials were to honor veterans with gifts and ice cream.
Pictured below is: David Soukup with his dad, Milton at Rivers Bend Health and Rehab. Milton served in the United States Army 1948/49 and David served in Army National Guard 1972/77. Both are members of AMVETS Post 99.
Auxiliary 99 - Backpack & Pencil Boxes Donation
AMVETS Post 99 donated school backpacks to the Manitowoc School System.

Auxiliary 60 - Donation to Zablocki VA Medical Center
Recently Wisconsin AMVETS Auxiliary #60 donated over $1,000 worth of equipment to the Adaptive cycling program in the Zablocki VAMC Spinal Cord Injury Unit. This program is for the spinal cord injury unit recreation therapy department cycling equipment in which veterans need adaptations to the bike so they can cycle independently.
This equipment ranges from modified foot pedals to hand grips, shifting levers and/or leg supports are just a few examples. Veterans can exercise and prevent secondary conditions; weight gain, diabetes, depression are a few examples. Veterans can pursue a healthy lifestyle through cycling.

Auxiliary 99 - Painting Project
AMVETS Post 99 Auxiliary hosted a painting project for the kids on September 28, 2018 at the club house. Pictured are all who participated with Child Welfare Chair Mary Carlson center back.
Dave & Ligita Ryan owners of D.L.R. Custom Wood Flags in Juneau, Wisconsin Donated a large wood flag to Robert Frankenstein AMVETS Post 33 Beaver Dam. They hand make every flag in their wood shop in Juneau and sell them with 10% going to various veterans groups. The flags come in a variety of sizes and themes.
Dave said the knot on the 6th stripe has the apperance of a sunset and felt it was the ideal location for the aircraft. When they were asked why they picked AMVETS Post 33 they said because of what the post and membership does for veterans and the community. Post 33 was honored to accept the donation.

I wish to thank Associated Bank for awarding AMVETS Post 57 a check for our veterans display. Thanks to families of CSM Terry Perleberg, T/SGT Norman E. Whitney, T/4 Edmund R. Powless, T/4 Marlyn C. Gilbert, Norman Bostedt, Edward Hedberg, also Artie and Tim for the donations of memorabilia.
Paul McElroy, Charlie Rubenzer, Commander Darren Knutson, and Tom Vodacek from the Bloomer AMVETS Post with Christmas gift baskets handed out to the 26 veterans in the nursing homes in Bloomer and Cornell. The bags contained marino wool socks, fruit, toothbrush and paste, beef sticks, candycane, candy bars, etc.
Recently, LCO AMVETS Post 1998 along with Springbrook VFW Post 10568 each presented $1000 checks to the Regional Hospice Organization to support their catch a dream program which finances wishes for terminally ill veterans.
