Happy Holidays AMVETS family! This is the December 2025 Programs Report for the Department of Wisconsin.
National Programs Reporting Periods:
July 1st – December 31st National Deadline: January 7th
January 1st – June 30 National Deadline: July 7th
Please, please, please get your programs reports entered into the National Programs online reporting system. The program is known as mini-extensions and ALL AMVETS members are able to access the reporting system and enter their own individual program hours. It really is easy to do! After January 7th, you will not be able to enter program hours for 2025. All Post Programs Awards for July – December will be selected based on the reports submitted prior to January 7th .
Americanism Contest:
My focus the next few months will be on Americanism. We are entering the prime season for the Americanism Contest and all entries are due to the Department POCs not later than May 1st, 2026. Prior to Christmas, I will email the National Packet to each District and Post Commander. I will also include an internal information sheet with the name and address of the Department POCs.
Due to the difficulty getting into schools for Americanism, I am encouraging Posts and Districts to leverage social media such as Facebook and Next Door to share information in your local community. You can also reach out to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boys and Girls Clubs in your area.
The deadline is May 1st to have all entries to the POC’s listed below:
Kindergarten and 1st Grades: Flag Coloring Contest (Doug Rasmussen is Department POC)
2nd through 5th Grades: Post Contest (Darlene Hempel is the Department POC)
6th through 12th Grades: Essay Contest (Tim Wendt is the Department POC)
Respectfully submitted by Tim Wendt, 2nd Vice Commander (Programs), (985) 630-2450
