Bloomer Post 6440 once again made gift bags for veterans in the local nursing homes.
As usual the socks were the big hit.
We gave bags to the 15 Vets in the four Bloomer nursing homes and bags to the 4 Vets in the Cornell nursing home.

Honoring Veterans at our local cemeteries
On November 7, 2023 the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 50, Phillips put large banners and 48 inch wreaths up at the two local cemeteries in Phillips to honor our veterans on Veteran’s Day. The ladies in the aux. went out in the woods
and cut all the boughs needed for the wreaths. Then a very special friend Holli Koci made the wreaths for the group. The banners and wreaths will stay up all winter long.

Party for residents at the Assited Living AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 50, Phillips
On Friday November 17, 2023 the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary members held a Thanksgiving Party for the residents at Duroy Terrace Apartments. The Auxiliary helped the residents make paper bag turkeys, played bingo with prizes and then served root beer floats and rice Krispie treats. The residents who attended had a wonderful time.

Supplies for Ronald McDonald House and Cattail Lodge AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 50, Phillips
The Ronald McDonald House and Cattail Lodge located in Marshfield, WI had an early Christmas, thanks to the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 50, Phillips. Every year the auxiliary makes a Spring and Fall donation to the homes with supplies needed that are listed on their wish list. Last week the auxiliary took a trailer load of aluminum cans to the recycle plant. The auxiliary is very grateful to Brian & Linda Skpzypczak at Trailside Bar, Dawn Hahn at Northern Lights, Glenn Konshak and Craig Kuehl for their help in donating cans. With the money received the auxiliary went on a shopping trip.

AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary
On Tuesday, October 31, 2023 the AMVETS Ladies Aux. members paid a visit to the Phillips Elementary School where they donated three cases of packaged meals that the Auxiliary had purchased from the Food For Kidz fundraiser. Each case contained 35 packed meals making a grand total of 165 meals of oatmeal/raisin and bean/rice. The Auxiliary donated the food to help the weekend Backpack meal program.
At the same time, the Auxiliary handed Principal Dave Scholz a check in the amount of $1,000, which will be used to purchase padded folding chairs to be used at various events held in the gym. The chairs will be used for the first time on Friday, November 10 for the Veterans Day program.

Commander Send Off
On October 13, 2023 the Butternut school faculty, students and parents held a short assembly at the end of the school day to give Commander Jerald Wegner a happy send off. On Oct. 16, 2023 Mr Wegner would be leaving on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight from the mosinee airport.
Mr. Wegner has been the Butternut American Legion, Post 272 Commander for 36 years. Enjoy your “Trip of A Life Time Jerald” Pictured are; his wife Connie Wegner, Commander Jerald Wegner and AMVETS Auxiliary President Dolores Gradinjan.

AMVETS Post 1051 - Flag Ceremony Donnas' Showboat
Flag raising Ceremony at Donnas' Showboat Feb 4, 2023 Junction City. AMVETS Post 1051 Honor Guard raised the flag for Donnas' new flag pole. Donna Distasio is a member of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 1051 Life Member and has done numerous events for the Honor Flight and other AMVETS functions. Her customers and friends presented her with a beautiful flag pole and the AMVETS raised the flag. A potluck followed with members of the AMVET Post 1051 and AMVETS Auxiliary 1051 also present. It was a beautiful day and the flag once raised flew beautifully.

Pics from King Rec Mtg tour of Moses Hall
The Rec Committee let us invite a few dignitaries to tour Moses Hall so as you can see Dale and Robin and Tim were there also.
The first photo is all of the AMVETS and AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary members who attended. Deb Suchon and Mary Woiak represent the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary of WI as King Rec members, Duane Miskulin and Armin Conrad represent the AMVETS Dept of WI as King Rec members. We could not pass up this opportunity to get this photo as it shows that some places will be opening up for us in the future for us to do Hospital Tours.
