2nd Vice – Tim Wendt, May 2026

Where has this year gone?!? We are just over a month away from Convention and this will be our last one in Green Bay for a while. Please have your Post 2nd Vice Commanders join us on Saturday afternoon of Convention for Programs training.

Thank you to all Posts that have been submitting Programs reports throughout the year. If your Post has not, this will be your last reminder before Programs reports are run and awards prepared for convention. I strongly urge you to get in the habit of uploading them every month. Please report your program efforts in Mini-Extensions at https://www.amvets.org/submit-reports. If you need assistance, please reach out to me. I suspect that there are far more program hours being conducted than recorded. The value of our programs is tabulated by National every 6 months and shared with Congress as a show of the impact of our value to Veterans and the Community. Reports for this semi-annual period must be in by July 7th; however, all reports need to be submitted by June 1st to be considered for the annual Reporting Awards announced at Convention.

National Programs Reporting Periods:

July 1st– December 31st                   National Deadline: January 7th

January 1st – June 30th                    National Deadline: July 7th

Americanism Contest:

Thank you to the Posts, Auxiliaries, Sons and Riders who have been getting the word out about the Americanism contests. That deadline has come and gone, and judging is ongoing with awards to be announced at Convention. Please report your hours spent working on that program. I thank the following volunteers for their support of this program:

Kindergarten and 1st Grades: Flag Coloring Contest (Doug Rasmussen is Department POC)

2nd through 5th Grades: Post Contest (Darlene Hempel is the Department POC)
