Commander – Ron Griffin, Feb 2026

It is true, the older you get the faster time goes by. It seems like just yesterday when I began my term of office and we are getting ready to have the last SEC meeting before our convention and with it the Testimonial Dinner for President Emily and myself. The information on those events is now on the website, and I hope you will be joining us here in Oshkosh on April 11th. But regardless of whether you will be coming to the dinner, I really want to see every Post represented at this SEC. That is the best Testimonial celebration I could have.

But before that I will have the honor of representing this Department, along with our President and our White Clover Princess in placing a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown at Arlington National Cemetery and then meeting with members of Congress to lobby for veterans. Did not plan this but what a thrill to be doing this 250 years from 1776 and the beginning of our great nation! Wow!

I want to take a few minutes to remind everyone about my project for this year, Operation Home Fires. My idea was to have every Post able to have a service project in their community to help veterans and veteran families have a safe home to stay in. It is one thing to have a temporary place to live in a shelter or to be able to afford a more permanent place to live but what about when they need a new roof in that home, or when they need a new stove or furnace? Will they be able to afford repairs or replacement of major appliances and furniture?
