A new year and this one is special, the 250th anniversary of the year of the Declaration of Independence that established us as a country. I am so proud of the fact that on March 2nd, the Auxiliary President, our White Clover Princess and myself will be laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown in Arlington National Cemetery. For a historian and patriot like myself this is truly a once in a life time honor and especially since I will be representing such a great organization as the AMVETs Department of Wisconsin. I didn’t plan it this, it seems fate has decreed that possibly the last Vietnam veteran Commander for the Department would be the one to be so honored.
Speaking of honors, we recently posted the details on the Spring SEC and the Presidents and Commander’s Testimonial Dinner. I humbly invite ALL of you to attend this event, scheduled for April 11th.
Lastly, this newsletter contains a few more articles than the previous 3 months. From now on we will; be publish a newsletter on the 15th of the month with the deadline for submitting articles as the 12th. I want to see an article from all major components and all subordinate organizations and as many individual Posts as possible. Remember we want this to be viewed by people from outside of AMVETs and having potential members know what we do and how much good work our Posts do for veterans and their communities, the more members we will attract. People want to be associated with a winner and AMVETs of Wisconsin ARE WINNERS!
