Hello to All from the WI AMVETS Riders Department and President,
I would like to give a brief introduction to myself. My name is Corey Rahlf. I am a three-year active-duty Army Veteran, Honorable Discharged in the fall of 1995 having served in the 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Drum, NY. I am the newest Department President for the Riders of WI. This is all new to me, so please bear with me if I begin to ramble. I started out joining my local AMVETS Post, 1776 of Melrose, WI. The Post Commander then asked if I would be interested in starting a Riders Chapter…I immediately agreed. I started by joining Chapter 3929 as the 2nd Vice President. Upon completion of the required number of members, the paperwork started to create our Department’s newest Chapter, 1776. During this timeframe, I had been asked to step into the Finance Officer role for my Post. I was also asked to be considered for the State Sgt. At Arms and agreed. This past June I was nominated for the President position…and again accepted. See…here I am rambling. On to State news…
Our Department currently has three Chapters; 13, 120, and 1776. This year we have seen a myriad of ups and downs. From the lows of learning of friends and family being involved in accidents to new positions, new Riders joining our organization to new rides and friendships being developed. In August of this year, Chapter 13 held their annual ride out of Wautoma which was a great success. This ride was supported by the arrival of our newest State Commander Dale Weigand. For those present, it seems Commander Weigand had a great time and with assistance, raised $262 on his own in support of Chapter 13 and their ride. Also, in August of this year, our newest Chapter, 1776 hosted their first ride in conjunction with Post 1776 Community Fest and Corn Broil. With a turnout of approximately 12 motorcycles and 2 support vehicles, we considered this a success. Each rider was able to enjoy 2 free cobs of corn and a beverage just for registering and riding along. This coming December, Chapter 120 will be hosting their annual Raffle. If anyone is interested in purchasing any remaining tickets, please make sure to reach out to a Rider from Chapter 120. We continue to look forward to new adventures and fundraising opportunities for the Rider’s Chapters and Department.
As the riding season begins to come to a close, I would like to remind all Rider’s and AMVETS members to be safe, and stay alert. There may be a few more days of warm weather and sunny skies ahead of us. So if you venture out, keep your head on a swivel. If you have already put your ride away for the long winter’s slumber, I hope you dream of sunny skies, warm days, and a smile on your face as you sling your leg over your ride and prepare to put your knees in the breeze once again.
Wishing everyone a warm and joyous upcoming Halloween and Thanksgiving with family,
Sincerely,
WI Riders Department President
Corey “Grunt” Rahlf
