Welcome to our first monthly Sound Off email issue. I want to thank our Executive Director Michael Hanke for spearheading this new means of communication for the WI AMVETS. Also, a big thank you goes out to Rose Fields of the Auxiliary, for putting the project together on the State Website. I encourage all members to sign up to receive the Sound Off by visiting the Sound Off page and filling out the form there.
I have just attended Post 72’s 50th Charter Anniversary in Connersville on Saturday the 22nd. It was a long haul for me, but it was worth it. What a great bunch of AMVETS! I have a picture of 3 of the charter members in attendance. If you would like the State Commander to attend one of your events or meetings, please email or contact me by phone to invite me.
I will be updating the Commander’s calendar on the web page for the events I plan to attend. The web page also has a calendar for all post events like your meeting date or any other special event. Let’s try to keep it updated.
The Winter Dance & Fund Raiser is December 2nd at the VFW Hall in Waupaca. Look for the flyer on the web page. The SEC meeting will follow on Saturday the 3rd. This will be at the Ramada Inn in Waupaca. There are rooms blocked for Friday night and Saturday night. The Hospital and Service Foundation meeting will be at 0900, the Administration meeting will be at 1000, and the State Executive meeting will be at 1100. Lunch is on your own. There is a restaurant and bar at the Inn.
I want to remind you of my project this year. Sofas For Service is a nonprofit organization that delivers furniture around the State for Veterans in need of furniture and other household needs. The link for their website is sofasforservice.org. Please donate by writing a check to “WI AMVETS” and earmark it for “Commander’s Project”.
I hope everybody has a Happy Veterans Day and attends programs in your communities that honor Veterans.
